  1. Delon says:

I find it really interesting that this guy refers to facts when most mma fights have been won by wrestlers who train no-gi

  2. Dwight Roux says:

You can take the man out of the gi, but not the gi out of a man.

  3. Justin says:

    Delon –

Can you give me some examples? Look at all of the top MMA fighters these days and 90% of them still incorporate gi training. He doesn’t say that gi is better than nogi. He does say that the gi game improves your nogi.

For what it’s worth, Draculino has won BJJ mundials/panams/etc at both gi and nogi. I’d imagine his opinion is a bit more reliable than you or I…

  4. jarniej says:

Gi training will help your no gi to an extent… But so will Sambo… So will Wrestling… So will Gi and No Gi Judo…

The point I’m trying to make is it’s not the “Gi” that is important to training No Gi JJ, It’s that mat time that comes with training period.

So yes, no gi training will make you better at no gi jj, but not as good as training without the gi!
